You may have spotted this on someone you know

Raynaud’s phenomenon, or Raynaud’s syndrome, causes fingers, toes, or other body parts to turn white in cold temperatures due to narrowed blood vessels restricting blood flow. As blood returns, the area may turn blue and then red. This condition can cause numbness and pain.

It’s more common in women and can last from minutes to hours. Stress, anxiety, or prolonged use of vibrating tools can also trigger it. The nose, ears, lips, and even nipples can be affected.

Wearing gloves, managing stress, and quitting smoking can help prevent symptoms. Severe complications like ulcers or gangrene are rare.
