Jack, a single father of two little girls—Emma, 4, and Lily, 5—was navigating the daily challenges of parenting alone. His wife had left to travel the world, leaving him to balance work and the responsibilities of raising his daughters. Though he loved them dearly, the demands of managing everything left him exhausted. One morning, as usual, Jack woke his daughters up to get ready for daycare.
As they headed downstairs, he went into the kitchen to prepare a simple breakfast of oatmeal. But to his surprise, three plates of pancakes with jam and fruit were already laid out on the table. Assuming it might have been his sister Sarah, he gave her a call, but she denied stopping by that morning.
