An old farmer was hauling a wagon full of manure when a state trooper pulled him over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou were speeding,\u201d the officer said. \u201cI\u2019m going to have to write you a ticket.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYep,\u201d the farmer replied, watching as the trooper swatted at a cloud of buzzing flies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThese flies are awful,\u201d complained the trooper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYep,\u201d said the farmer. \u201cThose are circle flies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCircle flies?\u201d asked the trooper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYep,\u201d the farmer explained. \u201cThey\u2019re the kind that circle a horse\u2019s backside.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The trooper narrowed his eyes. \u201cYou\u2019re not calling me a horse\u2019s ass, are you?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNope,\u201d the farmer said calmly. \u201cBut you just can\u2019t fool them flies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jacob\u2019s Tricky Questions
One day in class, Jacob grinned mischievously and asked his teacher:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTeacher, how do you put an elephant in the fridge?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She frowned. \u201cI don\u2019t know\u2014how?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEasy,\u201d Jacob said. \u201cYou open the door and put it in!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Before she could respond, he asked another:
\u201cHow do you put a giraffe in the fridge?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The teacher smiled. \u201cSame way\u2014you open the door and put it in.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jacob shook his head. \u201cNope. First you take the elephant out, then you put the giraffe in.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He wasn\u2019t done. \u201cAll the animals went to the lion\u2019s birthday party\u2014except one. Which one?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe lion?\u201d guessed the teacher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNope,\u201d Jacob laughed. \u201cThe giraffe\u2014he\u2019s still in the fridge!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Finally, Jacob asked, \u201cIf a river is full of alligators, how do you cross it?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The teacher thought for a moment. \u201cYou\u2019d use the bridge.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
